Studying at UCLan
With around 32,000 students studying at Preston, UCLan is now the sixth largest university in the UK. It is ranked in the leading third of the UK’s modern universities and is the leading modern university in the North West of England

During the last ten years the University has spent over £77million in providing a modern, state of the art learning environment, including campus-wide free internet access via an extensive computer network, and a new library open seven days a week.
Housed in a modern four-storey building, the library is well stocked with books, journals, reference texts and online resources. Major international newspapers are also available.

It has the largest computer access area in the University, with around 240 networked terminals, providing students with their own:
- free internet access
- email address
- personal work area on the university’s computer network
The library also has quiet areas and bookable meeting rooms, ideal for group seminars, equipped with overhead projectors, whiteboards and flipcharts.
The specialised learning resources unit also offers a computerised Braille translation service which supports the Mission to remove barriers to those with special needs.
