Katarzyna Wilkowicz-Poland

Katarzyna Wilkowicz - PolandKatarzyna came to the UK from Lublin in Poland to improve her English seven years ago, but just a year after arriving she decided to take her learning one step further.

So the 26 year-old enrolled on a part-time degree at UCLan, and, for the past 6 years, she has been studying a BA (Hons) in Tourism & Leisure Management.

And as her graduation loomed Katarzyna discovered that in addition to her degree certificate, she was being awarded a special Hospitality prize for performing well in all her modules.

Achievement

Her award, entitled Achievement in Integration of Academic Themes within the Department of Tourism & Leisure Management was presented to her by the Dean of Lancashire Business School at her graduation ceremony at Preston's Guild Hall.

She said: "When I find out I was selected for the special award I was crying! I just didn't expect it, and it took me a few days for it to sink in."

Katarzyna has enjoyed meeting people from all over the world at UCLan, and she wants to continue doing this when she gets her first job.

"I like to travel and learn new cultures and I hope that my future job will give me that opportunity. My plan for now is to look for a job in tourism or hospitality industry."
