Yu Song-China

Yu Song - China23 year-old BA (Hons) Accounting graduate Yu Song performed outstandingly in her studies to achieve a First Class degree - which only a very small percentage of students attain!

Yu, from Shenzhen, was also awarded the Best Audit Student prize from AXA Insurance after excelling in class.

She said: "Winning the Best Audit Student prize from AXA Insurance reflected my efforts to a certain extent, as I feel that I have worked to the best of my abilities.

"But equally the prize reflects a wider excellence in the teaching and support I have received from my lecturers. It also reflects the support and encouragement of my friends and family."

Yu always aspired to study abroad, and has found that her time spent at UClan lived up to her expectations.

Enjoyed

She said: "I enjoyed almost every part of my time at UCLan, whether it was living in student halls, going out with my friends, preparing for examinations in the library, or celebrating our graduation.

"And when I look back over the past three years perhaps the thing that most leaps out is how much I've grown as a person. I guess the main message I have gained from university is to take small steps but often."

Accounting is something Yu has always been interested in, and now that she has performed so well on her course, she wants to follow in the footsteps of her mother who is an accountant in China.

She said: "My ultimate career aspiration is to become successful as a charted accountant, and this prize and my degree have given great encouragement for me to continue my pursuit of this."
