Earthquake in Sichuan, China

On 12 May 2008, a powerful earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.8, has hit China's south-western Sichuan province. News reports indicate that large numbers of people have been affected by this event. The epicentre of the earthquake was about 92km (57 miles) from Chengdu, Sichuan's provincial capital.
